EXPANDING IMAGINATION CAPACITY – Jean Calogero: unreal worlds that arise listening to classical music

1JEAN CALOGERO 1/3 – First exhibitions in 1945 in Sicily, and he is best known for his Surrealistic and Genre pieces. Born in Sicily in 1922, from a modest background he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Catania, and the Academie des Beaux-Arts in Paris, lived and worked for many years in Paris and Italy (also exhibited in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York).9

JEAN CALOGERO 2/3 – Surrealism of his paintings, as you can feel at first glance, is combined with the landscapes that were most dear to him, showing scenarios and characters immersed in the Sicilian and Parisian setting. By painting, he creates an unreal world, listening to loud classical music, in a creative environment full of acres of turpentine smell and fresh paint.17

JEAN CALOGERO 3/3 – Something extraordinary, extremely full of meanings, happen when you saw one of his paintings. In all his creative work, you find messages to be decoded. If the time of your observation is prolonged, something unusual happens: dramatically it expands your ability to imagine. Certainly, you also will not forget his baskets filled with fruit or bunches of flowers. His women elegant face, or the Amazons fairs will find a place in your memory, along with the delicacy of a Nativity, where the baby Jesus has the face of his son.logo-meeting-benches
