It was founded by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen in 2000, as the Experience Music Project. The Museum of Pop Culture, is a nonprofit museum dedicated to contemporary popular culture. The EMP museum has organized dozens of exhibits, across the US and internationally. http://www.empmuseum.org/ For music lovers, Seattle means Nirvana. While parents discover the history of rock, children can become rock stars, with one of the educational programs of the beautiful EMP Museum.

At that time, Nirvana exploded on the national music scene, transforming Seattle from a faraway backwater to the epicenter of popular music culture.
