UNDER THE SKY OF PALO DURO – Insect repellent during the day and a sweater to protect yourself in the evening

The park occupies only part of the Canyon – 200 km long – that has formed over the millennia. The Palo Duro Canyon is considered one of the most beautiful in the world, for the extraordinary richness of its colors and the great variety of rock formations. You can go as you want this wonder of nature explore the canyon by foot, mountain bike, horse or car. There are more than 30 miles of hiking, biking and equestrian trails, but also camp, geocache, study nature or bird watch. If you arrive in summer (mid-June to late August), stop – in the evening – in the Canyon Pioneer Amphitheater, where the nights are cool, to hear a musical comedy that tells what happened here, 150 years back in time. In fact, it is a wonderful way to see the canyon, because you can stop in some sights, to take pictures, or to find traces of animal life and plant. Unusual rocks are found at the bottom of the canyon, called hoodoos. The tour lasts a few hours, and it is advisable to make a reservation in the morning.
