A long and winding road – north of Tuxtla and towards Villahermosa – gives you beautiful scenery, but we are headed twenty kilometers further east, in San Cristobal de las Casas (the way we will stop in Chiapa de Corzom to see the Museo de Laca, and buy a bottle made from lacquered gourds). San Cristobal de las Casas was born in 1528, and owes its name to the bishop he wanted to protect the Indians from the abuses of the Spanish landowners. Walking in the city center, you will not need to raise his eyes from the ground too much, because almost all the houses are one-story, all have their own inner courtyard, all have their own porch. http://www.visitmexico.com/en/
Among all the churches of the city, we will see one, “Iglesia de Guadalupe” (because there is a beautiful view of the city). Near the church of “Santo Domingo”, we can see the colorful market of the Mayan Indians (remember to buy your travel, you will contact the convent, choosing handmade product you prefer). Before leaving we will go at 33 Calle Vicente Guerrero, in what was the home of a Danish ethnologist (the house of the jaguar, a small museum of local finds), to add to your holiday even the memory of the pre-Columbian era. http://www.visitmexico.com/en/palenque
