lui1In 1990 was published the entire collection of his poems, but he has also written several travel books. Lambertus Johannes Jacobus Aafjes (friends Bertus Aafjes), has received for his commitment to the literary prize “Tollensprijs” because it was from 1940 that he had begun to commit to paper the results of his restless temperament. Born in Amsterdam in one day in May 1914, Bertus Aafjes had spent part of his youth in the convent, but the lure of the exotic and distant places had led him to travel and write, until one day in April of 1993, when the Dutch poet has returned to what he had written to all of us, a lantern for a blind man.

1.1“The back, the groove fast and then the shells,

explain the wider thighs:

line closed only by the slender ankles

and kept within the limits of their wisdom.

 

2.1I love the moonlight that wander in small circles

Makes changing her nakedness property

And that’s when my finger to try

Flows away like silver in the basin rose.

 

3.1Soon her body is awakened lives in lines

And plunges in the high tide of the fountains;

now snoozing, sleep has touched the

 

 

4.1and holds it steady with the pale strands;

yet his lap and roses swaying breast,

but one day you will be surprised by death.
