It was a day in June, the beginning of the summer of 1999. That’s for sure. Picking up some documents for my trip, I accidentally found some old receipts, not just pieces of paper, but pleasant shades of my travel memories. Six objects, six sites, they reported the freshness of my long stay in Venice. Five are in the restaurants of the city, one relates to a hotel. Observing those confetti memory, I recalled the terraces on the canals and the ancient Byzantine frames, but also what I ate, the feelings that were never extinguished. http://www.osteriamascaron.it/eng/storia.html
The charm of a small hotel (La Calcina), furnished with late nineteenth century. “Sacred and Profane”, the tiny tavern behind the Rialto market; “Al Mascaron”, a pleasant tavern in Calle Lunga Santa Maria Formosa; “At Bacco”, a very unique place, in the foundations of Capuzine; “Riviera” – in front of the island of Giudecca – where I had dined under large tents; “Morozi”, in Campo Santo Stefano, the memory of a simple salad sandwich. All those memories (not only culinary), pass before my eyes, like frames of memory, confetti smell and taste. http://www.lacalcina.com/
