DISCOVERING THE UNIMAGINABLE HORIZONS OF YOUR SOUL – Achill Island, Ireland

One of the most picturesque is the Keel Beach, nestled between the mountains. Here you can breathe the air border. The most impressive of its views is The Atlantic Drive. Arriving here, among heather and peat bogs, you will walk the road, that seems to ride on the mountains overlooking the sea. Achill Island, http://achilltourism.com/ could be the largest of the islands around the Irish coast, but it is connected by a bridge (the Michael Davitt Bridge) to the mainland. Coming there, you won’t see particular sights, but you will understand, that sometimes – a poem can be also the serie of landscapes and small villages, instead of words and rhymes.

The absolute must is Achill Head, where the road ends. Your imagination can open up in surreal silence, discovering the unimaginable horizons of your soul. Achill Island, http://www.visitachill.com/ with a length of 24 km and a width of 19 km, is home to thousands of tourists attracted by its landscapes and all of them search one of its beaches: Keem and Doogort, Dooega, Dooagh and Dooiver. Here you can hear breathe the ocean, you can talk to the Atlantic wind, abandon yourself to the wonder of the green hills and the magic of special sky.

As popular tourist destination, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-qMypZ8M4k Achill Island has many bars and restaurants, which serve a full range of food. Seafood is a speciality (common food include lobster, mussels, salmon, trout and winkles). Don’t forget: Achill lamb is a very popular meal on the island. Notable people on the island? The artist Paul Henry stayed on the island for many years in the early 1900s and the English writer Honor Tracy lived there until her death in 1989. Heinrich Böll and his wife lived here and their cottage is used now as a guesthouse for artists. The intellectual property of the images that appear in this blog correspond to their authors. The sole purpose of this site, is to spread the knowledge of these painters and that other people enjoy their works.
