FREEDOM OF COMPOSITION AND COLOR – The light-intensity ratio of a painter named Federico

FEDERICO FARUFFINI 1/3 – His work is seen as a moment of transition between pictorialism and the Scapigliatura. He was an Italian painter of historical subjects, in a style that combines the themes of Realism with the outlines colors of Scapigliatura painters. Born inside the metropolitan area of Milan, he trained with Trecourt in Pavia. Until 1848, he attended the School of Painting of Pavia, but the growing commitment to artistic education, diminished his commitment to legal studies.

FEDERICO FARUFFINI 2/3 – After 1855, he moved to Milan to begin the legal internship at the court, but a year later to Rome. The desire to free himself from teaching academic, is quickly revealed in his paintings. In Rome, he remains until the beginning of 1858, acquiring new experiences, through knowledge of painting of the past centuries, and even coming into contact with other painters working in Rome. In the paintings executed around 1860, it shows his new freedom of composition and color of the light-intensity ratio.

FEDERICO FARUFFINI 3/3 – In the 1864 exposition at the Brera, he submitted a watercolor, and four oil canvases. In 1865 he also began to devote himself to etching, engraving his own paintings and collaborating edition of the Divine Comedy. At the end of 1865 he moved to Paris, where painting a lot, also continues in the production of etchings. At the Paris Salon, in 1867, he was awarded a first prize medal for a paintings. He returned to Italy in 1867, he began to think about suicide. It was in Perugia in 1869, where he committed suicide poisoning.
