Its portraits appear (each with its individual background), a landscape or some characteristic buildings. HARALD SLOTT MOLLER 2/2 – Visiting the Vejle Kunstmuseum) in the town centre of Vejle (in southeastern Jutland, Denmark), if you observe its “Midsummer Night near Vejle Fjord”, you see an landscape painting, but at the same time a portrait (propably depicting the artist’s wife Agnes Slott-Møller), and yes, the atmosphere of this painting is characterized by an unusual use of color (especially in the woman’s prominent red cape). The atmosphere in this painting is characterized by an unusual use of colour, not least in the woman’s prominent red cape. Harald Slott-Møller had a background both in naturalism and symbolism, wherefore surface, colour and symbolic meaning intertwine in the painting.
