Since 1998 he has lived in New York City, but he was born in Cork (Ireland) on a February, 1964. As a toddler, with his parents he spent time in Mozambique and in Turkey, then he lived in Iran. From the age of six, he lived in the Netherlands. In 1987, after being called to the English Bar, he spent a year writing his first novel.
