WHEN PAINTING AND MUSIC ARE PARTS OF LIFE
HEITOR DOS PRAZERES 1/3 – He was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1898 and there he also died in 1966. He was the son of a clarinetist and a dressmaker and became father-in-law at the age 7. At the age 12, he worked as a shoe shaker and shaggy, but his musical passion kept him in touch with many musicians. For the guy Heitor these had been difficult years, he was also arrested for wandering. Through his musical relationships he composed samba and participated in the foundation of samba schools. Between recordings and controversies, he created a music catalog of nearly 300 compositions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QSWugXK_oo
HEITOR DOS PRAZERES 2/3 – It had been after the death of his wife who had started painting watercolors without any technical knowledge. Later, he would also paint oil, gradually improving technique and style, giving us clear and bright images. Mules and everyday life have always been her favorite themes in her works, enabling her to achieve (in Brazil and abroad) the success that many artists do not get in life. One of his paintings was purchased by Queen of England. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUTLlYQKO70
HEITOR DOS PRAZERES 3/3 – He painted life and culture of Rio favelas, mulatto and samba circles, children playing with kites and life on the streets, the first houses on the hill and street parties. His artistic legacy is made with simple images of the city of Rio de Janeiro and the Brazilian people. This expressive simplicity placed him for one of Brazil’s most famous primitivist painters. He attended the Biennial of Saint Paul Of Brazil in 1951. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zh9Ez2wGpEQ
