The band came to develop a sound that relied on dynamic contrasts (often between quiet verses and loud, heavy choruses). The band’s frontman Kurt Cobain, found himself referred to in the media as the spokesman of a generation. Disenchanted with Sub Pop, Nirvana decided to look for a deal with a major record label, since no indie label could buy the group out of its contract. Being able to interpret the mood of an entire generation, transforming the alternative rock into a mass phenomenon, in a few years (with few assets album), Nirvana succeeded to establish themselves as the legend of the Seattle scene.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqseYiGA0us&list=PL2EA61F5BAAFFCAD7&index=4
In early 1994, the band embarked on a European tour. In Rome, Cobain’s wife, found him unconscious in their hotel room. Cobain had reacted to a combination of Rohypnol and of alcohol. The rest of the tour was cancelled. Cobain’s heroin addiction resurfaced. After a week in rehabilitation, he climbed over the wall of the facility, going to Seattle. At his Seattle home, on April 8, 1994, he was found dead of a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head. Symbol of distress and apathy of an entire generation, flagship of the Seattle grunge, Nirvana were able (in only five years of life), to enter the Olympus of rock. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_6DEctiNSs&index=6&list=PL2EA61F5BAAFFCAD7
