BY YOUR EYES ALIGHT – Poetry, by José Martí

BY YOUR EYES ALIGHT > For your eyes alight, and because of a bad snap, I thought you were last night, playing forbidden games. I hated you for vile and perfidious: I hated hatred of death. Nausea gave me to see, so villainous and so beautiful. And at school I saw, without aber how or when, I know you were crying all night for me.
