THE DAWN – Poetry by Boris Leonidovich Pasternak

THE DAWN

THEDOWN1.1

You were everything in my destiny, then came the war and the decay, and long, long you never heard anything more. And after many, many years, your voice again troubled me. All night I read your commands, reviving me as from a swoon. I want to go among the people, the crowd, the animation morning. I am ready to reduce everything in splinters, and to put all its knees. They go down the stairs, as if they were born for the first time on these stairs covered with snow, and on the deserted pavement. Sprouting everywhere flames cozy, people drink tea, he hastens to tram, within a few minutes the appearance of the city is unrecognizable. For doors the storm weaves a dense network of flakes, and to reach all-time run, without having finished eating. I feel for them, for all, as if I were in their skin, I melt as the snow melts, as the morning frowned. With me are people without names, trees, children, people housewife. I have won all of them, and only this is my victory.
