romance1.1romance1.1He was born into a Slovene minority community in Trieste. That writer, he is internationally most notable for his Holocaust experiences as described in the novel Necropolis. Boris Pahor is a prominent public figure in the Slovene minority in Italy. He was awarded order of the Legion of Honour by the French government, the Cross of Honour for Science and Art by the Austrian government and been nominated for the Nobel prize for literature by the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts. Between 1953 and 1975, Pahor worked as an Italian literature instructor in a Slovene-language high school in Trieste.
