Peace – Burial at Sea (oil on canvas, height: 87 cm and width: 86.5 cm), it is a memorial to Turner’s friend, who died on board the Oriental on the way back from the Middle East. Turner he possessed the power of reproducing in the mind of the spectator, the impression which he himself received from any scene he chose to depict.
