BETWEEN THE MOUNTAINS OF SIERRA ROSARIO – Cuba: 800 orchids and a castle in the clouds to the west of Havana

cuba1.1I was leaving early that morning from Havana, headed west in search of Soroa, who was waiting for me, in the mountains of the Sierra del Rosario. http://www.cubaculturaltrips.com/las-terrazas-sierra-del-rosario-biosphere-reserve/ The desire to see the wonderful park of orchids – full of life, 700 meters above sea level – had turned into reality. Observing nearly 800 orchids, I think the countries of origin of each of those flowers, and all those lands had something similar to one another, the presence of water and humidity. The day was full of sun and wind, and as I walked among those wonderful colors, I did not feel the sting of the sun, but I was thirsty. That’s why I went to the Castle on the Clouds, a restaurant where I was not limited to drink, but also to taste different dishes of traditional Cuban cuisine. http://www.cubatravel.tur.cu/en

cuba2.1In the afternoon, I was not even in the Castle on the Clouds, but I went to Paradise. Yes, nothing better than this name can encompass – in one simple word – the beauty of the famous ” Manantiales River Salto”, where the characters of the show offered by Mother Nature, are two: water and vegetation. The next day, I went to the north, on Soroa road – San Diego de Nunez, but after a few kilometers I preferred the mountain road to the town of Palma. Only this route could give me the spectacle of mountain landscapes of the Sierra del Rosario. After Palma, going north, in the direction of the Valley of Vinales, I stopped in San Vicente, but before going to bed I opened my drawing folder, to give once again to my eyes, all the colors of this corner of Cuba. http://www.roughguides.com/destinations/central-america-and-the-caribbean/cuba/artemisa-pinar-del-r%C3%ADo/vi%C3%B1ales-valley/
