WRECK & PIRATES – The Golden Boa Vista and the beaches of Cape Verde

If you walk up just north of Sal Rei – going beyond Praia da Cruz – you can observe the sea the peninsula of Ponta do Sol (the southernmost point of the island), but do not forget to photograph the lighthouse. Step by step, you will understand that the north coast is a single beach (the magnificent “Boa Esperanca”), the one that comes up to Ponta Antonia. What is Boa Esperanca, you certainly want to know. Better known as Praia Santa Maria, this place full of magic is the most spectacular of Boa Vista. When you have passed a string of large dunes (which can give some difficulty to your own out of the way), you’re arrived. Hard to go wrong. http://www.capeverde.com/islands/boa-vista.html

You will look at the immensity of the sea, which perhaps does not invite you to swim, but this vast expanse of golden sands, at the foot of hills short, it gives you the unforgettable feeling of reliving ancient events at sea. Look, look in front of you, just off the beach the wreck of a Spanish ship is tilted (the Santa Maria, stranded in 1968). That of Santa Maria is one of 140 wrecks of this sea. If you have a good pair of binoculars, do not forget to watch the sea eagles, above the wreck, because it is from a sea tragedy that they had the material to build their nests. Because all these wrecks? The island has a magnetic pole that alters the bushes. http://www.caboverde.com/ilhas/boavist/guide-e.htm

The south coast? In its depths sleep wrecks of 35 caravels, including – perhaps – even some escort vessels of the Golden Hind (the flagship of the English privateer Francis Drake). Just before Ponta Antonia, stopped in the deserted village of Espingueira. This is a small port, but if you’re lucky, you will see not only the fishermen but also find an incredible feeling of peace within yourself. http://www.riu.com/en/Paises/cape-verde/boa-vista/clubhotel-riu-karamboa/
