VOICES IN THE WOODS, BREATH OF THE NIGHT – Inverness, Culloden and the Stones of Clava. Welcome you in the north of Scotland

Where he died the River Ness – in the Moray Firth – you can find the city of Inverness. This city in the north of Scotland, is waiting for you in the third week of August, to give you the show of the popular festival called “Northern Meeting”. Walking down Church Street you can see some ancient building, but I advise you to go to Market Cross and Town Hall, where you can enter the Folklore Museum and the Arts. A panoramic view of the city? You can go behind the museum, where there is a nineteenth-century castle, the one that gives you a beautiful view. http://www.northern-meeting.org/                                                                                                                         Ready for a little adventure? Good. We should do eight kilometers, walking east, to reach Culloden, surrounded by a great and charming forest, one where during a fierce battle – into a distant day in April – the British soldiers brought to an end to the hopes of Scottish independence. Did you see these stones? Those steles recall the Scottish clans destroyed in combat. One more km and we arrive to the Stones of Clava. Looking those three great dolmens (two of them, as you see, an underground chamber). We are in the most important Bronze Age settlement in Britain. We wait for the sunset, if you are in agreement with me, to listen to the voices of the woods, along with the breath of the night. http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/inverness/clavacairns/
