REMOTE, WILD AND SILENT – Travel along the north coast of Scotland

Yes, the bay is really wide. Just from that bay ferries leave for Orkney and Shetland. Thurso is really a small town, but this scenic part of Scotland’s northern coast, offers a starting point for many, very many small and valuable discoveries. Dounreay, gives the opportunity to visit the Atomic Energy Exhibition, but crossing the estuary of Stath Naver and Borgie river, you have a different surprise: Tongue, a beautiful village that seems to sleep, above the deep fjord. Above the village, you can visit what remains of the medieval Castle Varrich, but if you feel like taking a trip around the fjord, then you’ll have two surprises: Ben Loyal and Ben Hope, two mountains of moderate height (751 me 912 m), but of great scenic charm. http://www.scotland.org/visit-scotland/

If you’re afraid of the dark and closed places, do not go to Smoo, because that deep cave might embarrass those your fears. Best that you continue, arriving at Loch Inchard and then to Loch Laxford, where you expect the appointment to the remote village of Scourie. Perhaps you’re wondering why get so far from your starting point. Simple. Only along this coast you can admire the beautiful reddish color of the rocks and the green waters that have the color of the Emerald (just across the northern part of the Hebrides). Many gulfs, a myriad of islands, accompany your path in a wonderfully wild landscape. http://www.smoocave.org/

Finally, you can take the ferry Kylesku Ferry, choosing whether to go: to the east, or to the southeast. Loch Glendhu and Loch Glencoul have a common characteristic: the landscape is wild and beautiful super. By moving under the peaks of Quinaig and Glasven, you get SkiagBridge (on the northern shore of Loch Assynt), where it awaits the grand prize for this hotel. You came in Lochinver, but for now not to continue along the valley Loanan, stopped in this beautiful fishing village, a place so remote where you can find – observing the majesty of Mount Suilven – something that you did not know you have. http://www.the-rose-bb.com/
