IN THIS SEASON HOT I THINK TO YOU – Poetry by Nazim Hikmet

IN THIS SEASON HOT I THINK TO YOU

In this hot season I think to you, your nakedness, your neck, your wrist, your foot lying on the couch like a white dove. What you were saying to me in this hot season, I think to you. I do not know what I think about most, what I saw with my eyes, your neck, your pulse, your bare foot, or what you were saying to me, giving you to me. In this yellow heat think to you, in this yellow warmth in a hotel room thinking of you, I take off my solitude, my solitude that resembles death.
