HONORE’ DAUMIER 1/4 – He, son of a glazier who loves poetry, was born in Marseille on a day in February. Also in his work as a painter, are the characteristic features of his work as an engraver: stretch and recorded net, expressionistic deformation and satire of manners. He lived in an age of dramatic political, economic, and social upheaval.
HONORE’ DAUMIER 2/4 – He likes to draw, and it is in Paris that receives teachings of art by the painter Lenoir, before enrolling at the Académie Suisse. His work as a cartoonist, won him considerable legal problems, finishing him convicted and jailed on many occasions. Critics described him as a master at recording the unrehearsed moments of daily life.
HONORE’ DAUMIER 3/4 – At the age of 17, he draws caricatures for a Parisian humoristic newspaper. Starting from 1855, a vigorous, passionate thesis human and social breaks in his paintings, which depict the courts and lawyers, amateurs of prints, theater actors and humble workers. He was also interested in exploring literary themes, in particular the ones contained in the popular novel Don Quixote.
HONORE’ DAUMIER 4/4 – Original artist, he began as a draftsman, and the development of printing was instructed by Ramelet. Corot, comforted his miserable old age, for him buying a small house where he died alone and forgotten.
