PAINTING THE BEAUTY – Eugene de Blaas: charm and elegance, in the faces of women and in the clothes of the gondoliers

EUGENIO DE BLAAS 1/4 – He, son of Austrian parents, was born in the Italian village of Albano, not far from Rome. His paintings, in time, will be appreciated everywhere, with exhibitions in Vienna and London, Paris, Berlin and Melbourne. He was influenced by British Impressionism where women were shown in rural or domestic settings. EUGENIO DE BLAAS 2/4 – The son of a painter, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and Venice, Vienna and Paris. His artistic life flourishes in a family atmosphere steeped in poetry and painting. Many of his scenes, painted either in oil or watercolor, suggest male and female flirtation.

10POST2EUGENIO DE BLAAS 3/4 – At the age of 17, he exhibited his paintings, oil paintings and watercolors. The artist often used his wife, Paola Prina, as a model. It was in Venice, that Eugene de Blaas established himself, as the leading painter of Venetian genre. Venice, being an key stop on the grand tour, had a developed market for paintings depicting Venetian life. EUGENIO DE BLAAS 4/4 – Landscapes and portraits: Venetian atmospheres captured on canvas, the colors, depicting fishermen and gondoliers, but also nobles and commoners. De Blaas paintings continue to be in popular demand throughout the world. He died in Venice, on a February day.
