CLOTHING: Poetry of Wislawa Szymborska

CLOTHING

WISLAVA.1.1WISLAVA.1.1You take off, we take off, we remove coats, jackets, waistcoats, blouses of wool, cotton, terylene, skirts, pants, socks, underwear, laying, hanging, throwing on backs of chairs, doors screens. For now, he says the doctor, nothing serious; you put on, rest, take a trip, take the case, after lunch, in the evening; come back in three months, six a year. You see and you thought, and we were afraid, and you supponevate, and he suspected. Now it’s time to connect with his hands still trembling strings, automatic, zippers, buckles, belts, buttons, ties, collars and sleeves, purses, pockets, pull out – creased, polka dots, stripes, flowers, chess – scarf, reusable long-term loans.
