GREAT MYSTERIES DWELL: Poetry, by Fernando Pessoa

GREAT MYSTERIES DWELL

“Great mysteries inhabit
the portal of my being,
the site where hesitate
Large birds looking
My transpose late to see them.

They are birds filled abyss,
as in dreams there are.
I need if polling and distrust
and my soul is cataclysm
the site where it is.

Then awake sleep
I am cheerful and light,
although in a sad day;
because the portal is intimidating
and every step is a cross.”

(Fernando Pessoa)
