HOW BEAUTIFUL YOUTH: Who wants to be happy

HOW BEAUTIFUL YOUTH

From the diary-illustrated atlas published by Benches Meeting from March 20, 2014 (e-book format in English and Italian). One of its pages written by Lorenzo de’ Medici.lorenzodemedici.1

“How beautiful youth, who flees though! Who wants to be happy, either: of tomorrow there is no certainty. Each open ears well, tomorrow is no pastures; and today they are, young and old, everyone will be happy, females and males; helmets every sad thought: let us make a feast, however. Who wants to be happy, either: of tomorrow there is no certainty. Women and youths lovers, Bacchus alive and live love! Each sounds, dancing and singing! That burns the heart of sweetness. No effort, no pain! That which has to be, must needs be! Who wants to be happy, either: of tomorrow there is no certainty”.
