Speak in verse, to reflect your inner world
There is a form of art which, with the choice and combination of words, creates a composition made of sentences, called verses, in which the meaning is linked to the musical sound of the phonemes, that is, the sound emitted by the phonatory apparatus. Poetry https://www.grammarly.com/blog/how-to-write-a-poem/, precisely, having some qualities of music, transmits concepts and moods in a more evocative way than prose, in which the words are not subject to metrics. Poetry can be written in various styles and forms, such as lyric poetry, epic poetry, satirical poetry, didactic poetry, religious poetry, and love poetry. Poetry is an art that can be appreciated by everyone, regardless of the language or culture they belong to, even by artificial intelligence, which offers you its own poem: SADNESS – Sadness is a wave that overwhelms you, an emotion that it makes you feel alone, an experience that makes you cry, but which makes you more human. Sadness is an opportunity to reflect and grow, to appreciate happiness and to learn to live. Don’t be afraid of sadness, don’t hide it or ignore it, but welcome it with kindness and let it teach you something new.
Among the great contemporary Italian poets, we cannot fail to remember Mariagiorgia Ulbar, who in 2020 published “The life of others”, a collection of poems that explores daily life and human nature. A collection of poems published in 2021, which explores the nature and essence of the human being, “Sea water does not wet your hands”, was written by Carmen Gallo. “Life is a work of art”, published by Giulia Rusconi in 2021, is a collection of poems that explores life, love and human nature. Finally, we want to talk to you about Franca Mancinelli https://www.francamancinelli.com/, winner of the Viareggio prize in 2021 with her own collection of poems. By this poet, we offer you a selection taken from “All the eyes I opened”:
The things that have been alive make a sharp noise. When you look again, you will find everything supported by branches. Nothing happened. We are here, on this frame of leaves. At times a cry opens up the throat. We lose warmth. Then it shakes, it rocks us in the light wind. I saw the eyes of the trees in the thicket a shock of light left, watching over us like thick rain waiting. I branch according to the light master trees to open my chest with the strength that comes from a seed. The air was inert, filled with tremors and tremors. It was necessary to retreat, put life aside, push it towards areas where pockets of calm opened up. So, I grew up in this amputated form. The next street you can see in me how it burns. From here the streets started, exhaling I grew in the collapse, something sweet, a hollow of time, all the eyes I opened are the branches I lost.
If we were to choose some internationally female poets, we would be influenced by what we have read about them. One of the greatest poets of the 19th century, Emily Dickinson, left us highly original poems imbued with emotional intensity. Sylvia Plath, a writer, developed a poetics profoundly influenced by her existential experiences. Two other poets, writers, and activists who have written poems influenced by their personal lives are Maya Angelou and Margaret Atwood https://www.amazon.com/Dearly-New-Poems-Margaret-Atwood/dp/006303249X. Here is a poem by the latter:
Variations on the Word Sleep – I would like to see you sleep, which may not happen. I would like to watch you while you sleep. I would sleep with you, enter your sleep as its smooth, dark wave slides over my head, and walk with you through that bright trembling forest of blue-green leaves with its watery sun and three moons to the cave where you must descend, to your worst fear. I would like to give you the silver branch, the little white flower, the one word that will protect you from the pain at the center of your dream, from the pain at the center. I would follow you up the long staircase again and become the boat that rows you carefully, a flame between two cupped hands, where your body lies next to me, and you enter it as easily as you inhale. I would like to be the air that lives in you just for a moment. I would like to go as unnoticed as necessary.

LISTEN TO ME – Listen to me, while I read you this poem, which talks about you and me, about our life and of our love. Listen to the sound of the words, dancing in the air like butterflies, and feel their meaning, creeping into your heart. Listen to the rhythm of my voice, which beats like a drum, and feel its melody, which envelops you like a blanket. Listen to my breath, which merges with yours, and feel our love, which expands like a wave. Listen to me as I read this poem to you, and let its meaning take you away to a world of happiness.
