WHEN ADVENTURES GIVE YOU SPECIAL JACKETS – Moncler: from the mountain equipment by René Ramillon to the duvet jacket by Remo Ruffini.

A stopover town, starting point with a jackets.

The small restaurant Le Monest (63 Grand Rue), is in a country house in Monestier-de-Clermont, with good family cuisine. If you decide to visit this area, you can sleep at the Chateau de Bardonenche (4 rue du Chateau), full of elegant rooms. Breakfast is the best you can try, with excellent bread, and homemade jams. Thanks to René Ramillon (specialized in mountain equipment), in this village near Grenoble https://www.france-voyage.com/cities-towns/monestier-de-clermont-13236.htm, in 1952 MONCLER was born, a company that produced things for the mountains.

At the beginning, it produced curtains with a telescopic structure and external covering, padded sleeping bags and a lined cape with hood. The name of the company is the acronym of its place of foundation: Monestier de Clermont https://www.france-voyage.com/cities-towns/monestier-de-clermont-13236.htm. The French company MONCLER, specialized in winter clothing, was founded in 1952 by an artisan specialized in the production of mountain equipment. In 1954, some jackets had been produced for the company workers, who wore them over the overalls.

A mountaineer had noticed them, suggesting to MONCLER to create a series for mountaineering (experimenting with models during various expeditions). Some of those jackets-down jackets equipped the first conquest of Mount K2 and Makalu, to shipments to Alaska. In 1968, the company became an official supplier of the French national alpine skiing team. His logo had changed, when Mount Eguit had been replaced with a drawing of a cockerel. Starting from 1972, some variations of the jacket are born: “Huascaran” and “Nepal“. With the advent of mass winter tourism, the jacket-down jacket is also available in bright colors. https://store.moncler.com/en-us/men/autumn-winter/grenoble-jackets-and-down-jackets?_ga=2.239487939.1566043800.1549272763-1746655328.1549272763

Its products are sold all over the world, in independent boutiques and in high-end retailers. By signing collections or limited edition products, the company has been collaborating with various companies and designers. In 2017, MONCLER reached 1.1 billion euros in revenues. In 1992, it had become an Italian brand, and the company was listed on the Milan Stock Exchange. With the 2016 reorganization, Ruffini Partecipazioni has control of Moncler. In 1952, the production line offered coats and accessories (for women and men), but today it is present on the market with several collections that also offer the public a wide range of jackets and down jackets. https://www.moncler.com/gb/monclernow/7-moncler-fragment-hiroshi-fujiwara-teaser/
