KIM FUJIWARA 2/3 – At his first job in Chinese restaurant (he was 16-year-old busboy) when it was slow at work, he created pencil portraits of the waitresses. He was determined to make art as a career. In 1975 he enrolled at the prestigious art school Center for Creative Studies/College of Art and Design, in Detroit. By the mid 80’s he was an instructor at CCS for 5 years teaching Illustration. KIM FUJIWARA 3/3 – From lighting to the colors, looking for weather and moods, to earth and sky, the American West has everything for him to fuel his creative soul. Besides watching western movies during the 1960’s, his inspiration of The West actually started in 1990, after being commissioned to illustrate children’s books. He was influenced by American artists as David Grove and Norman Rockwell, Gil Elvgren and French Impressionism. In 1992 he started his own studio. His art has garnered several Gold and Silver Awards.
