HISTORICAL SIGHT NOT INCLUDED IN VIENNA ITINERARIES AND CULINARY COMBINATION OF AUSTRIAN CUISINE

We start the trip little bit out of city center, in Döbling, 19th district of Vienna. It is a romantic and verdant place, where the Vienna Observatory of Hohe Warte is located since 1872. Döbling crosses the Wienerwald slope up to the Danube and its highest peak is Hermannskogel (although symbols of this place are two hills, the Kahlenberg and nearby Leopoldsberg). Here you can visit a small chapel, not included in the classic tourist itineraries. Sisi-Chapel is a Gothic Revival-style chapel located near the Vienna Woods. It was built on the occasion of the marriage of Empress Elisabeth and Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria. The chapel is used to celebrate weddings. It’s not very easy to find it, but you can get there by car (Himmelstraße 125, Vienna 1190), or by bus Nr. 48.

Walking through Grinzinger Strasse, you can enjoy many historic taverns surrounded by hills. Amador’s Wirtshaus & Greißlerei (Grinzingerstraße 86, 1190 Wien), http://www.amadors-wirtshaus.com/amadors-wirtshaus.html is an elegant inn in a great wine cellar in the city, together with the vintner Fritz Wieninger. Amador relies on regional products, including in the adjacent grocery store. A Greisslerei is the Austrian term for a small Grocery and Wirtshaus is a tavern. With its imaginative architectural design everywhere, beautifully decorated food offering inspiring flavors and the impeccable service, this restaurant is often described as one with the finest chefs in the world. Juan Amador creates culinary combinations with amazing astonishing detail. The wine menu has a great variety and the prices are reasonable, so you will come back again.
