IN THE STRANGE LABYRINTH THAT CONSTITUTES ART – With Jose Manuel Gomez and his horses

JOSE MANUEL GOMEZ 1/4 – For him, the knowledge it’s the only formula to grow in the strange labyrinth that constitutes art. He was born in a small rural town in Spain in 1940. At the age of 17, he moved to the city of Cordoba, to pursue his interest in the arts. In 1964, he visited Paris, expanded his natural artistic talent. In 1965, his first collective exhibition was in Vannes (France).

JOSE MANUEL GOMEZ 2/4 – One day he arrived at Fuengirola (after spending several years in France). He had decided it was time to return to his country. He came here with his wife to visit his parents in Malaga. The Fair had begun and he saw the ambience there was with horses. A month later he bought his first horse.

JOSE MANUEL GOMEZ 3/4 – From that moment on he began working with a Gallery in Puerto Banus. In the last years he concentrated his work in the theme of horses. The horse theme is a recurrent subject in his paintings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IGdEQE8y4Q He work on an exhibition on the history of the Cartuja (to see how it had all happened, when the carthusians were horse breeders).

JOSE MANUEL GOMEZ 4/4 – The carthusian horse is the achievement of an ideal, looking for attention to have the impact of beauty. In various cities worldwide, he has participated in more than 30 exhibitions (including Madrid, Mexico City, Paris, Amsterdam and Biarritz, Cannes). As he say, It is necessary that some aspects of the entity as an artist are as a journey in the art world, where he need to go deeply into classical concepts and do the “upside down” journey, being self-taught.
