BETWEEN FIGUERES, PORTILLIGAT AND PUBOL / SPAIN – Under the sun of Salvador Dalì

The Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation http://www.salvador-dali.org/en_index/ was created on 23 December 1983 at Púbol Castle. Dalí presided over and directed the foundation in person from the outset. It is a private cultural organization which has the mission to promote, and defend the artistic, cultural and intellectual artwork of the painter. The Dalí museums, collection and exhibitions, acquisitions and archives, publications, expertise of works and educational service. The entire collection is composed of thousands of objects (dating from all the different periods of Dalí’s life), and more than 4,000 works of art (reflecting an enormous diversity of techniques, materials and media). http://www.salvador-dali.org/museus/en_index/ A large proportion of the work is permanently on show at the Dalí Theatre-Museum. Dalí Theater-Museum (Figueres), is a museum of the artist Salvador Dalí in his home town of Figueres. Dali is buried in a crypt below the stage. Dalí-Jewels (Figueres), is a permanent exhibition at the Dalí Theatre. The collection of jewels have an entrance independent from that of the museum, and can therefore be visited separately. Home-Museum Salvador Dalí (Port Lligat), is the house in Port Lligat, where Salvador Dalí usually lived and worked from 1930 to 1982. The house has a labyrinthine structure which spreads out and winds around in a succession of zones linked by narrow corridors, slight changes of level and blind passageways.
