THE AMERICAN POP ART

In the late fifties, it was born in Britain, growing mainly in the US since the sixties. Acknowledged master of pop art Andy Warhol was the creative who transformed from the single object of art in a mass-produced. Equally famous are David Hockney and Jeff Koons. The name “pop art“, is derived from the English word “popular art”, an artistic movement of the second half of the twentieth century, a creative way that is interested in the shape and representation of reality. This art form, as opposed to abstract expressionism, turned its attention to the language, objects and myths of consumer society. Racing with the impersonal language of the mass media, pop art was experimenting new techniques, using retouched photographs and collages. Pop art, use the same language of advertising, being so homogenous consumer society that gave it birth.
