SATURDAYS – Poetry, by Jorge Luis Borges

SATURDAYS > Out there there’s a sunset, dark gem set in time, and a deep blind city of men who did not see you. The night is silent or sings. Someone free longings crucifixes in a plane. Still, the large your beauty. Even when you do not love, your beauty lavishes his miracle in time. It is in you the joy, like spring in the tender leaf. I have nothing left, only a desire lost in the evening. The delight is in you, as the cruelty lies in swords. The night oppresses the railing. In the austere hall, like blind men looking for our solitude. She survives glorious twilight, the whiteness of your skin. In our love there is a penalty, which resembles the soul. You, yesterday only the beauty, you’re also all love, now.
