THE COLORS OF THE EXOTICISM – Marià Fortuny i Marsal: the short flight of Oriental lights

MARIA’ FORTUNY I MARSAL 1/6 – He was born in a June day in Catalonia. He has twelve years of age when he is assigned to the protection of his grandfather, who encourages the artistic abilities of the boy. In Barcelona, he gets a scholarship to the School of Fine Arts, with a chance to complete in Rome on his artistic training. MARIA’ FORTUNY I MARSAL 2/6 – When war broke out between Spain and Morocco, he is in Africa to paint battles. During African months, he is completely dazzled by the coloring of African colors, a perception that accompanying him for the rest of his life. MARIA’ FORTUNY I MARSAL 3/6 – In Paris and then back to Rome, he explodes in the modulation of color, with color charts that earned him fame and buyers. In those years, he married the daughter of the director of the Museum of the Prado.
