DRINK COFFEE TOGETHER VENUS – Island of Milos, the quintessence of Greece

Milos (the most spectacular of the Cyclades islands) is a volcanic island, an extraordinary place, rich in hot springs and white villages. To understand the charm of this place, it is necessary that you observe the white houses of Plaka, when they are flooded by the sun of mid-morning. Plaka is a small town, clinging to a cliff, a place attractive and ancient, a network of churches and houses. Do not forget to get up to Trypiti, not to lose the charm of the mills. When you visit the Archaeological Museum, you meet Venus (or rather, his plaster cast), along with Neolithic and Mycenaean ceramics. A particular thing? Try to visit the Museum of History and Folklore, because the old clothes and objects, mysteriously, they bring you back in time. If you want to see the original statue of Venus, you have to go to Paris: http://www.louvre.fr/en

If you have strong legs, you can try to climb the stairs leading to the ruins of the Venetian castle (280 meters of wonder, over the sea). Tired? A good restaurant: Taverna Archontoula. It is a quintessential Greek neighborhood cafe. Nestled among the narrow streets within a classic 1830s stone building. It’s a true family operation both front of the house, in the kitchen and out on the farm – lamb and goat from the family farm. Much of the produce is locally sourced. Dinner included an artfully arranged platter of roasted eggplant, peppers, carrots, mushrooms and manouri cheese. Fillet of pork was napped with a honey sauce while a salad of rocket, raisins, tomatoes and walnuts had a yogurt dressing. The lemon mousse was made with yogurt adding a tang to what’s frequently a too sweet dessert. http://www.milos.gr/en/
