MARSEILLE, THE SCENT OF MEMORIES: Sometimes they come back, you gorgeous. There is a particular shade of emotion tied to feelings, whose flavor is inside you, forever

I follow Meeting Benches for some months, and I was intrigued – especially – the editorial contributions of some readers, that is, from what their share of travel experiences. The last – one on Sussex – opened within me an invisible door, releasing a delicate fragrance that I had (deliberately) erased from my memory. In my case, sharing my feelings is connected to a man, but not to my father, a boy with whom I had shared the Vieux Port, to Marseille, trafficking of the heart, as we watched his old arsenals, imagining a our small boat and many excursions up to nearby creeks. No, as you can imagine, Chantelle is not landed in any creek. Simply, our emotions are finished in a dry, our history had lasted only a wonderful summer, and I had wanted to erase it from my life. http://www.marseille-tourisme.com/en/

Almost like the rebirth of a myth, Chantelle wants to go back with you in the beautiful bays of the Calanques, leaving you – at the end of our tour of words – a special gift (typical of my city), a bar of soap. Obviously, “Marseille soap”. Starting with the soap, I’ll remember that, in the narrow gorges that dot the Mediterranean coast between Marseille and Cassis, the Arabs made stopovers, leaving the formula of what excellent emollient soap. The Vieux Port, as you see, is protected by forts. Remember, when you want to eat fish, the “Les Trois Forts” (a restaurant unforgettable), is right at the mouth of the harbor. To eat something unusual, you can go to town in the Panier district, where you will find the restaurant “Le Panier des Arts” (but also “Vieille Charité”, the most beautiful house in the city). http://www.lestroisforts.fr/

What you see moored in the harbor, is a myriad of small vessels (we call them “pointu”). If you want, I can take you in “Quai des Belges”, where you can observe the entire sample of fresh fish, what you’ll find in restaurants in my town. Today, few people walking, but I can guarantee that – on sunny days – all the coffee in front of the old port are crowded with people. Our old arsenals, have been completely renovated. If we go on the “Cours d’Estienne-d’Orves”, we find “Les Arcenaulx” (I love this place), because there is a library must. As a girl, in “Quai de Rive Neuve”, right bank of the Vieux Port, I was irresistibly drawn to a nightclub in this area, “Trolleybus”. http://www.les-arcenaulx.com/

Okay. We are at the end of our journey in the memories and scents. One idea. We go to the “Four des Navettes”, where you can buy a handful of biscuits details (shape and scent? Pirogue and orange), without forgetting to enter the temple of the aromas, the “Compagnie de Provence”. You’ll be amazed by the shade of the scents of all the soaps, and they accompany the memory of this our travel experience. Thanks. Chantelle thanks you, because with you is able to return where he had chosen not to relive old memories. http://www.fourdesnavettes.com/
