SARDINIA, A NEW DAWN: Looking for the arrival of the sun, waiting in the blue, inside our intimate quiet

Sure, wait for the dawn, we overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, next to the bear of Palau, is an intriguing experience, but observing the colors that precede the arrival of the Sun – in a small tent – it is absolutely shocking, primal and satisfying. But now it is time to start walking towards some interesting places of the central-eastern part of Sardinia, of course, on our Vespa 300ie. 127 km and two hours on the road, but to be Osalla Orosei – 40 ° 19’50 .25” N-9 ° 40’20 .82” E – it really is a good start, for this our day immersed in the blue.

White sand, very thin, transparent waters and Mediterranean around us. True, to get to this beach, we had to follow the state road 125, up to Orosei, but when we reached the junction via Grazia Deledda, and had passed in “On Petrosu,” we understand what is Osalla. Going to the beach Palmasera – in the Gulf of Orosei – instead we have known the wonder of fine sand that is mixed with the gravel, but also one of the rocks that emerge from the water, and vegetation that accompanies the land to the sea. This is a beach with a good range of public services, with shallow water where children can play in peace, while we observe pleased- with our laziness – inside a pedal boats float that we rented.

40 ° 15’5 .38” N-9 ° 37’25 .96” E. Now, we are next to the caves that open along the coast of Dorgali – the Monk Seal favorite places – but it is the Grotta del Bue ocean that fascinates us most. 5 km long, we follow in routes, for 900 yards, and admire the large gallery where it enters the sea, mingling with small freshwater lakes. Stalactites and stalagmites draw a stage chromatic effect of extraordinary, but I advise you to open your notebook travel, to draw graffiti Neolithic, those hands similar to yours have designed thousands of years ago.

40 ° 9’30 .33” N-9 ° 38’34 .61” E. Now, we are literally immersed in a miracle of nature, because the Miracle Cave which opens in Baunei, overlooking the beach of Cala Sinise, is the result of millions of acts loving that nature has given us, and every one miracle is one year. Do not be afraid of that narrow corridor, and even cavities underground, because – before we – the pastors of these lands have understood the preciousness of water and the coolness of this place. In the so-called “Treasure Room”, we will not find jewelry, but hues of gray and red-ribbed limestone. Watch them well, and you seem to admire the starry sky.

40 ° 9’24 .77” N-9 ° 39’6 .58” E. The cave of the Fig Tree, is one that excited most cavers, because it is in this place that they admired the Seals Monk, the stalactites and stalagmites, the play of light and transparency, the ones that you will not be able to play in your diary travel, but only to give to your eyes. Walking on wooden footbridges, we walk into a thousand years of purity, to the sea of Orosei. If you want to return, remember that the cave is accessible only by sea, starting from Orosei.

The last pearl, the second day of our journey into the blue, is Goloritzè, a small cove north of Monte Santo – 40 ° 6’36 .73” N-9 ° 41’24 .03” E – a place surrounded by white limestone rocks. I am sure that you remain fascinated by the pyramid-shaped spire, one that rises 100 meters from the sea, but she is not the work of man, because the Time and the Wind are its creators. What you can draw, is the small forest – the one behind the pyramid – lots of arbutus and holm oak, maple, ash, oaks and hornbeam blacks. Although this cave is accessible from the sea, from the port of Santa Maria, but for our overnight stay we’re going to Baunei, just south of our last emotion, waiting for a new sun and a new dawn in Sardinia.
